Dear Radders from Momma

I popped a little question into Radder's post bag. I wondered what his take on it was and I must admit I was much comforted. But before we get on to Dear Radish, Sparky is the catalyst for my train of thought.

The Sparkster is 12 years old, I know each day is a gift now, I cant bear to think about the inevitable, wasted energy.

There is only one big downside of having a fur-baby, they just dont flippin live long enough!
He was 6 years old when we rescued him from Northamptonshire Greyhound Rescue. He had been overlooked so many times. Such was the extent of his cabin fever and his love of people, that when people came to view the dogs, Sparky's exuberance and sheer delight at the prospect of freedom would spilleth over.

He became a leaping, barking and bounding bundle of black fur. A right handful most thought. Please give him a chance, he really is not like that at all, he soon calms down.

How many times have I said that myself over the past 6 years to startled guests when being subjected to the Sparky welcome. At 12, he still does it, its just who he is.

Prior to that, having failed to make it as a racing greyhound, he was abandoned and ended up living with a homeless person on the streets of Leeds. Although no life for any dog, I do believe this is where his indomitable spirit and love of people was forged.

Sparky recovering on New Years Day after suffering a massive stomach haemmorhage. We honestly thought it was time to say goodbye.

But look at the old fella now? Bright as a button.

So my question to Radish is this.

Dear Radish

Do dogs go to heaven?

Snuggles, hopeful Momma

Dear Hopeful Momma

Not just dogs Momma, all animals go to heaven. We will joyfully greet you there at the Rainbow Bridge when you arrive. That's a promise.

One more thing. (You can believe this or not, but I happen to know from personal experience that this does happen), sometimes the soul that was your previous fur-baby can't wait for a heavenlyt reunion with you. This soul then rejoins you at another time and place in a different fur-babies body.

Look into my eyes Momma, dont you recognize your old friend?

Our love never dies.

Eternally yours,
Radish

Radish you do have the wise old face of my amazing boy Sammie!

Momma, he is waiting like I told you. He sends you this:

I explained it to St. Peter,
I'd rather stay here
Outside the pearly gate
At Rainbow Bridge
I won't be a nuisance,
I won't even bark, I'll be very patient and wait,
I'll be here, chewing on a celestial bone,
No matter how long you may be.
I'd miss you so much, if I went in alone,
It wouldn't be heaven for me
